Unable to Configure Oscilloscope, AWG, WFG

Moku model: Pro
Operating system: Windows
Software version: 4.2.1.1 build 14330-d7cec6b2

Bug or support request description: I need to configure the following to Moku Pro, it seems documentation is little off, so i have a hard time configuring.

This is how i route the connections in Multi-Instrument Mode:

  • Slot 1’s Output 2 wire → front-panel Output 1 icon.

  • Slot 2’s Output 1 wire → front-panel Output 3 icon.

  • Front-panel Input 2 icon → Slot 3’s Input A wire.

Configuration the three instruments

Configure in this exact order: Slot 2 first, then Slot 3, then Slot 1. This guarantees the pulse-amplitude line is at 0 V before the AWG can possibly fire.

Slot 2 — Waveform Generator (holds pulse amplitude at 0 V)

Click into Slot 2.

Channel 1:

  • Waveform: DC.

  • DC offset: 0.000 V.

  • Output Term: 50 Ω.

  • Output: Enabled.

Verify the displayed output reads 0.000 V before continuing.

Slot 3 — Oscilloscope (watches probe coil current on Input 2)

Click into Slot 3.

Channel A: source Input 2, range ±2 V, coupling DC, impedance 50 Ω (matches the coax chain from B3).

Time base: 200 ns/div.

Trigger: source Channel A, level −0.3 V, slope falling edge (the probe’s coil current pulse is negative-going per QSG p.14).

Trigger mode: Normal (so the scope only updates when a real pulse arrives — no free-running display).

Slot 1 — Arbitrary Waveform Generator (fires single trigger pulses on demand)

Configure but do not enable Output 2 yet.

Click into Slot 1.

Channel 2 waveform: Square pulse, period chosen so that one cycle is ~200 ns. Flag: the AWG’s UI for defining a single 100-ns-wide pulse may differ between Moku app versions. Two equivalent recipes —

  • Recipe A: load a Square waveform at frequency 5 MHz (period 200 ns), 50% duty → one cycle = one 100 ns high + 100 ns low. With Burst N-Cycle = 1, a click emits exactly one such cycle.

  • Recipe B: load a custom 1024-point arbitrary waveform whose first 50% samples are +1 and second 50% are 0, with sample rate set such that one full waveform period = 200 ns.

Either gives a single 100 ns positive pulse per click. If you can’t get either to work, ping me and we’ll figure out the exact UI path for your app version.

Channel 2 amplitude: 5 Vpp.

Channel 2 offset: +2.5 V (so the pulse swings 0 V → +5 V, not −2.5 V → +2.5 V).

Channel 2 output Term: 50 Ω.

Modulation:

  • Mode: Burst.

  • Burst mode: N-Cycle.

  • Burst cycles: 1.

  • Trigger source: Manual.

  • Channel 2 output: leave Disabled for now.

Can you please help?

Hello @NaVi ,

Thank you for reaching out! From your request, it seems like you want to generate a few waveforms and view the response in the oscilloscope. The waveforms you want to generate are a DC signal, and a square wave that is manually triggered. You also want to to view some response in the oscilloscope at the same time.

I would recommend to configure your Moku:Pro in this way:

Since you are generating two waveforms, you can use a single Waveform Generator to produce both outputs. To configure the waveforms, click the green arrow to open the Waveform Generator UI. You can then configure your waveforms in this way (per your description):

Since you want the square wave to be 5 V, you will need to increase the gain of Output 2 to +14 dB to access the full output range.

After you click ‘Apply changes’, you can click on the orange arrow to open the oscilloscope and view your input signal.

I hope this helps and makes sense! If you are still confused or would rather schedule a virtual meeting to talk through the specifics of your application, please reach out to support@liquidinstrument.com. Also, if you can point me to the incorrect documentation we can get that fixed as soon as possible. Thank you!
